ABOUT US

Peer support workers are people who have been successful in the recovery process who help others experiencing similar situations. Through shared understanding, respect, and mutual empowerment, peer support workers help people become and stay engaged in the recovery process and reduce the likelihood of relapse.

PSAND Lunch & Learn:
Ethics for Peer Specialists

Date: Friday, August 15th
Time: 12:00-2:00pm CT

Join us for an engaging Lunch & Learn session where we will: 
​
  • Recognize difference between personal & profession ethics.

  • Deepen understanding of peer relationships vs personal relationships.

  • Explore various ethical dilemmas through discussion and practical engagement with peers.

  • Identify skills and resources that support ethical decision-making for peer specialists. 

 

Presenters:

Emma Quinn: Has experience with multiple state systems. Since moving to North Dakota in 2016, she has become a strong advocate for accessible mental health care. Emma started as peer support in 2019, is actively involved in advocacy through roles on the Behavioral Health Planning Council, North Dakota's Medicaid Medical Advisory Committee, and the Peer Support Association of North Dakota.

Tamra Huesers: Tamra began her peer support work in 2015 is currently a ND Certified Peer Support Specialist II and, in October 2023, became Executive Director of Peer Vision for Mental Health, the nonprofit managing the Harmony Center and Vets for Vets, is a founder and board member of PSAND, an Intentional Peer Support Trainer, President of MAPSS, and a consultant for Minot Vets for Vets, supporting veterans through peer services.

Plan to join PSAND monthly for our sessions designed to inform and educate peers on topics relevant to the needs and interests of the peer support specialist role.

All Lunch and Learn sessions share the following objectives:
  • Cross-learning and knowledge sharing between peer support specialists.

  • Identifying training and education needs of peer support specialists.

  • Fostering peer relationships.

  • Establishing environment of support, trust, and continuous development.
